Ahok Instructs Water Management Head Dept to Dredge Shallow River

As a prevention strategy in facing rainy season, Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok’ T. Purnama instructed Tri Djoko Sri Margianto, Head of Water Management Department to list all shallow river in capital.

Ahok admitted that he won’t involve three-parties to run the project. He has learned his lesson using private service considering they did not work optimally. He prefers choosing own tool because it considered faster without waiting the auction process.

The JEDI is a dredging project over 13 rivers in capital. City Administration was given aid from World Bank to run river dredging project with support from Public Work Minister and Public Housing Minister the project.
The rivers will be dredged namely, West flood canal, Cakung Drain, , Cengkareng Drain, Angke, Cideng, Kamal, Sunter, Tanjungan, Krukut, Cideng-Tanah Sereal, Jelakeng, Pakin, Besar, Ciliwung Gunung Sahari, Sodetan Sentiong Sunter and Grogol Sekretaris river and also 5 additional dams such as, Pluit, Melati, Sunter Utara, Sunter Selatan, and Sunter Timur III dam.
Lastly, there are also 4 lakes will be rehabilitated;
Mangga Bolong, Babakan, Rawa Dongkal and Cipondoh lake.
